Shock absorber 101: A shock absorber is any device used to reduce sudden impact energy through the process of energy dissipation. Impact energy is dissipated through tires and springs during the expansion and contraction of those components. This item accomplishes exactly that which it was designed to do; dissipate sudden impact energy. It is well built, easy to install, and includes an allen wrench to aid in installation. For the price, it is difficult to complain!

This is not a shock absorber, It is a caged spring that only LOOKS like a shock absorber. There are no seals-so there can be no shock absorbing action. I haven't seen any real shock absorbers for anywhere near the low price of this thing.
It'll take a shock, but it's not going to smooth out any bumpy ride.
